Travel and Adventure Show - Los Angeles

We took in the Los Angeles Times sponsored Travel and Adventure Show this past weekend.

The good news, for the travel industry is that, for a rainy Sunday afternoon, it was very well attended. The US side of the show was more popular than the "rest of the world" side. That could be because of the economy or because of the news from the Middle East and Japan. Be that as it may, the attendees were interested in just about everything the show had to offer, from low cost biking vacations, to luxury safari/spa retreats. They lined up for zip line demos, scuba demos and tried their hand at rock climbing. After a few dismal years for the Travel Industry, maybe we're all suffering from a bit of cabin fever and just want to get out there, even if there is only a state or two away.

Noticeably absent from the show; Norway and New Zealand. Norway has had a big tourism push lately and I was eager to talk to someone face to face but was disappointed. As for New Zealand, well I always want to go to NZ and am always eager to talk about NZ, alas they were not there either.

I will however be doing a few posts about NZ in response to call by BlogNZ. If you have any questions about traveling in NZ, please feel free to ask.

Happy Trails!
